Timey-Wimey universe shenanigans aren’t exactly consistent in Star Trek. TNG was still using the concept of “altered universes” instead of “alternate universes”. Alternate Universes wouldn’t really become a story-telling device until DS9 mirror-universe and on from there to Enterprise, Discovery, etc…
But when TNG was being made, unless I’m forgetting something, the premise was very much that THE universe of the show was altered, not that they were moved to a different timeline.
So from the perspective of the episode, yes…that very much was their Tasha Yar since it’s presumed it’s the same universe, just altered. If the episode had been aired after they had established the multi-verse, than it’s likely that she wouldn’t be the same Yar.
Her change in demeanour is likely an acting choice by Crosby, since she’s playing a Yar that has been on the Enterprise for much longer. She’s more comfortable and confident in her role.

So the altered timeline had been departing from the Prime timeline in meaningful ways for about 30 years at the point of the alternate events of Yesterday’s Enterprise. Before Tasha and her sister were born. Their lives could have played out very similarly, or they could have been completely different. That’s why I wanted to hear what other people thought.
The whole out of universe production explanation is good. Like how some things in the Original Series went past warp 10 because the showrunners were still figuring out what Warp was and how to represent it.
I think that even though it was believed from a production standpoint that she would be the same woman, just not killed by Armus, she still gave a slightly altered performance. I don’t know how much of that was her just getting back into the character, or being told to act ‘darker and more serious,’ or if she deliberately chose to set this timeline’s Yar apart. Crosby’s definitely someone who can act with that nuance because Sela is portrayed as a unique character and not simply a Romulan Tasha.
I’m confused by what you’re trying to say, the mirror universe first debuted in the original series, and this wasn’t an alternate universe episode it was an alternate timeline episode. So yeah it’s like the Doc and Marty who are definitely the same people despite the timeline changes in the second movie.
